Courtney Law , Quality Insights

Courtney is a Parkersburg, WV native. She loves developing relationships across her community and working directly with people in service.  Despite traveling all over the country, she truly believes there’s no place like WV. Through the Impact Fellowship, she is able to give back to her home state. She graduated from Marshall with her Masters in Human Resource Management in 2017 and her Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education in 2015. She is eager to get started in her new Charleston community and learn more about the capital city.

 

Megan Sayre, EntreEd

Megan, originally from Waverly, WV,  graduated from West Liberty University with a bachelor’s degree in Digital Media Design this year. She graduated a year early and was looking for a way to gain additional job experience when she discovered the Impact Fellowship. The Fellowship fit perfectly into her philosophy of life-long learning and allowed her to stay in West Virginia post-graduation. Megan is excited to apply her creative problem solving to her work and community service throughout the year.

 

Drew Michael, Core10

Drew grew up in Ashland, KY, just on the border of his new home in Huntington as an Impact Fellow. A recent graduate of Marshall University with a Degree in Computer Science and Information Technology,  Drew is passionate about technology and innovation. The Impact Fellowship gave him the opportunity to have a technology career in West Virginia and stay in the state post-graduation. He is excited to work at Core10 in the town that made him fall in love with WV four years ago.

 

Paulina Nottingham, The Thrasher Group

Paulina came to West Virginia from her hometown of Champaign, Illinois to attend West Virginia Wesleyan College. With a Bachelor’s degree in marketing and a Masters of Business Administration, she is looking forward to creating projects that are built to last and serve her new home in WV for years to come. This state has inspired her to grow in her career and continues to give her lasting relationships. She looks forward to giving some of that back to the state as an Impact Fellow.

 

Wanlada Blake, Alpha Technologies

Wanlada is originally from the Narathiwat Province of Thailand and graduated from Me Fah Luang University with a Bachelors of Engineering focused in Computer Engineering in 2012. She is excited to continue her technology career in West Virginia with Alpha Technologies. Wanlada is building her new community in West Virginia and she already loves the surrounding nature in the Mountain State and wants to contribute to keeping this place Almost Heaven.

 

Mary Lemine, The Thrasher Group

Mary Lemine was born a Mountaineer in Morgantown and graduated from West Virginia University with a Master of Science in Journalism and a Bachelor of Science in Strategic Communication. Mary loves storytelling and hopes to connect with new organizations and perspectives through her experience as an Impact Fellow. She is also looking forward to continuing to add to her own story here at home, working to build on the potential she sees in her home state.

 

Mohd Rifat Khan, PracticeLink

Rifat is from Dhaka, Bangladesh and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Production Engineering in 2014. He came to the region through Ohio University in nearby Athens, OH. He graduated with Masters in Industrial and Systems Engineering in 2017 and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Mechanical and Systems Engineering (ISE track) with a focus on Machine Learning. Rifat lived and worked in West Virginia prior to his Ph.D. program and having loved the community, returned to the Mountain State through the Impact Fellowship. He is looking forward to being back in West Virginia working at PracticeLink in Hinton, WV.

 

Jennifer Watkins, Mylan  

Jennifer, originally from Ellicott City, MD, recently graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism in May 2018. She is eager to invest her time in West Virginia as a problem solver and researcher. She is excited to apply her communications and marketing skills to her work at Mylan. She has experienced the hospitality and support of West Virginians through her time at WVU and hopes to give that back in her experiences as a volunteer and professional in the community through the Impact Fellowship.

 

Barkley Castro, Highland Hospital

Barkley is a Winfield, WV native and graduate of Marshall University with a B.A. in Healthcare Management. She did not want to leave West Virginia after graduation and found the perfect opportunity to use her skillset here at home through the Impact Fellowship. Barkley is grateful the Fellowship kept her close to home as she will be working in the Charleston area, not too far from Winfield. Barkley is working with Highland Hospital as an Operations Analyst.

 

Russell Short, Core 10  

Russell is from Clarksburg, WV and studied nearby as a Mountaineer at West Virginia University. He graduated with a Bachelors in Computer Science and wants to progress in the fast-paced technology field while staying and serving his home in West Virginia. He thought the Impact Fellowship was a perfect program to really give back to his community and continue to grow as a young professional in the state. He hopes to become a more well-rounded software developer through his work with Core10 and increase access to technology through his volunteer projects in his community each Friday.
